This months P90X 1 on 1 is UBX - Upper Body Extreme! Ok first you will need to get 4 sturdy medicine balls to balance on. Maybe a balance ball. Dumb Bells and/or Resistance bands. This workout Tony is woring on Core, Shoulders, Triceps. And let me tell you trying to do pushups on medicine balls is NOT easy. I actually used a couple of basketballs. I can tell my balance and shoulder strength are building quickly.  Strip Down Shoulder Presses and the Scarecrow Presses were a couple of my favorites.  Very tough, but fun. Looking forward to the torture when P90X:MC2 comes out.

Rev Abs 1st half




Hey everybody, I've been quiet for a while shooting short tips and pieces of motivation out there. I have been working on building my team and trying to find a location to host my fit club. Enough of that, let's talk some Rev Abs. I am almost half way through the program. Brett is full of energy, motivating, and keeps you moving. You have probably seen him on the Biggest Loser as one of the Trainers. Even though the program is called Rev Abs it does focus on all parts of the body. Arms, back , legs and of course.....abs. You will hear "Fire Up Your Abs". That is where you breath out forcefully and tighten your abs. It helps you pull off some of the moves. You pretty much run through the same 3-4 programs twice a week. Total Strength, Mercy Abs, Power Intervals and Fire up Your Abs. You don't need much to do these workouts. Dumbbells and/or Resistance Bands. Each program runs you through 3 rounds of exercises, with the last round called a "Spice Round" which and extra move gets added. There is also the Rev Zone. This is where you pick up the pace. Can you handle it?  These workouts has squats, lunges, push ups, balance moves, boxing, cardio, crunches and much more. Push yourself and see if you can say the anthem without taking a breath. "Rev it high, Rev it low. I'm Strong and commited and ready to go!"
I will have more once I get into the second phase of the program.

P90X 1 on 1 V-Sculpt Review.

This is an AWESOME Workout! Concentration Curls out the ears and get ready for Pull-Up City! I really like the use of the resistance bands on this one. What I am not too sure about is the strap that you put in the door. It works great, but I wonder how long it will last being shut in the door like that and then being pulled on. This workout is a great change of pace for the Back & Bicep workout. (At least until the P90X:MC2 comes out.) I should have done this one on Wednesday but I can do Shoulder, Bi, Tri on Wed. and next week I might do it again on Wed. but try to get some pics in for you. The pull-ups are TOUGH! I'm not good at them anyway and I used the bands tonight, but I felt as though I was missing out on some of the exercise. Hey now, don't get me wrong there either. If you use the resistance bands right you can still get a great workout. V-Sculpt was a little more like the P90X workouts where you run through sets of workouts and then repeat. So there are 12 moves in all. 6 Back and 6 Bicep. Remember the strip set curls? They are back, but different. Down the rack curls! I have been through with the workout for about an hour now and I can feel it in my biceps & forearms. My back is feeling pretty good. Small burn still in my shoulders. I did throw in Ab Ripper X after the fact though to stay on track with my program. Tomorrow is back to cardio; Should be Plyometrics, but I think I will do Plyocide and Insanity's Fast and Furious! Busy Busy Busy

Been a little since my last post. As you may remember I had the Shakeology Interview last Monday. Then I got busy at work visiting the three Auctions I work with and took pictures. By day I am a Graphic Designer. Then the ICE day AGAIN!! Saturday we had our DFW HOME FITNESS & Shakeology Tasting Party! I have an awesome recipe for Shakeology No Bake Cookies!! The party was okay, not as many as I had hoped for but the people who did show up, we had a great time. I got to sit down and talk over things with my newest coach Dwayne. We are working on getting a Fit Club started somewhere in the Ft. Worth/ Keller area. (If you know of any cheap to free places where we could set up and put on some workouts, please let me know). We do not charge for our services in coaching others to good health. Just our products if you are interested. We also talked to his newest coach Rich on the phone and answered some questions he had. His family was very nice & very cool. Kristen came over with her sister and got some good info to take back to her family. Hopefully they will look into it. I know from experience - DIABETES SUCKS!! Look into the SHAKEOLOGY at http://myshakeology.com/shannon71 . Then Lynette & I spent most of the day Sunday shooting videos for the Team Beachbody Coach Promo. Got it all done and turned in Sunday night and I should have guessed, they extended the deadline. I'm not complaining, but I would have liked to have known we would have a couple more weeks to work on this. I could have scheduled a couple of more meetings to video. Bummer. Oh well, BROWNIE POINTS FOR BEING ON TIME???

I restarted my P90X rest week last night. A little Yoga X. Tonight I did CORE SYNERGISTICS and for a little extra punishment some Hip Hop Abs: Last Minute Abs. The HHA is short but WHOA! It's typical Shaun T. Dig Deep Non Stop Feel the Burn LOVE! LOL.
Finally, I had to go out and buy new pants tonight. 1. Someone complained about the pants I had on at work today to the head boss. REALLY! I have only wore those for about 1 year or 2 a couple times a week. 2. It was time to drop dress pant sizes anyway. 3 new pants & a belt. The old ones were getting too big. YES! Thank you Beachbody! Thank you Carl Daikeler, Tony Horton, Shaun T and all who work for this AWESOME company. Thank you Lynette for suprising me with P90X. Beachbody Interview



Cool thing happened to me in the last week. Thursday, a friend of mine told me that the Beachbody production team would be here in Dallas and were looking for people to conduct some interviews on Shakeology. So I was like, sure I'll send in my info. To my suprise,  I was picked. We set up the interview to be at my house at 7pm Monday. Needless to say I was nervous. I have been in music videos, shot as a zombie, but never anything like an interview where the focus was on me.

On my way home, Lynette calls me around 6pm saying the camera crew was already there. Good thing I was only 5 minutes away. I got home and let them in and we started setting up. That was a lot of equipment for an interview. While setting up I got comfortable with the crew and they were telling me about filming stuff at the Super Bowl the day before. Pretty interesting stuff. They did say the Black Eyed Peas sounded way better at the stadium than what was heard on TV. Now we are just about set up and Natalie is stuck in traffic. Traffic was pretty bad Monday. We make a few more minor changes and Natalie shows up.

Now we are a tad behind schedule she takes off her jacket and moves towards the chair for the interview, I start to move towards my chair and she asks, "So where is Shannon? I she about ready?" We all laugh as I explain that I am Shannon. She said that I was the first man she had met named Shannon. Still funny. Great ice breaker.
Now time for the interview, we go and talk about me growing up and all the soccer I played. Me being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and what the difference is between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. We went on to me getting injured playing soccer and being diabetic leading up to me quitting the game and the events that led up to me getting to the weight of 215-220lbs. (Most of my life I had been a skinny kid, weighing anywhere from 150-175lbs.). We talked about the events that led up to me starting P90X and then getting involved with becoming a Team Beachbody Coach and starting Shakeology. Then discussed how Shakeology and P90x has benfitted my health and my wallet. How after 3 months I was off Cholesterol Medicine, I was taking less Insulin for my diabetes, my diabetes has been under control, and how Shakeology actaually saved me money because of this. We also talked about how it can benefit someone who is a Type 2 diabetic, someone who has High Cholesterol, Is Over Weight, who "Eats like a 2nd grader". I got to explain how Shakeology is the Healthiest Meal of the Day and how it is helping me change my diet in which I have lost 30lbs.
So the interview is pretty much over and Natalie says get in your workout clothes. She wants to see my workout area and wants the crew to shoot me working out. By the way- Thank you Natalie for the comments. Unfortunately we didn't have everything set up in the garage like normal due to the Ice Storms we had the prior week and the car had been in the garage. Now before the workout we shoot me making a glass of Shakeology and me drinking it. I let her try one of Lynette's Shakeology No Bake Cookies and she really liked it. The recipe is on my Facebook Page in the Notes. Then we go into the living room which is where my second option for workout are help. I do a little Plyometrics for the camera. Then we let the dogs out so they could catch me playing with them. While in the garage she saw my drums for my roock band game. She wants me to play a song while on camera. Since I had everything set up in the living room I just grab a guitar and do that instead of dragging the drum set in. I start playing an alice in Chains song and I start hearing " Have fun with this", " Bang your Head", " Jump Around". I hate missing notes and messing up but I finally started goofing around which ended up to Tony's Rock Star Hops with the plastic guitar in my hands. Funny stuff! THANK YOU TONY!!!
That pretty much wraps up the interview. She asked if I was going to Summit this Summer and I said that I am. She tells me that we may see me up on screen at Summit. Now that would be freaking cool!! Thank you Beachbody for the life changing experience and giving me the ability to do things that I would never be able to do. I am in the process this week of shooting videos to submit for coaching commercials, infomercials, video, something. Plus Natalie wants me to send in some other videos of my sons and me playing soccer and some other scenarios. Plus I am having my DFW Home Fitness Grand Opening and Shakeology Tasting this Saturday at 4pm. If you are around the area and available, stop on by. I'll be recording some of that also. P90X Shoulder & Arms

P90X - Shoulders and Arms
This workout is all about the arms! Get the dumb bells and Resistance bands out because it's time to BRING IT! In this workout it's Shoulders, Biceps and Triceps. It's a repetition workout so you will need to remember to not totally burn out the first set of reps. Remember when doing these; for building muscle in size, you will want to max out in 8 to 10 reps. Start feeling the burn in 6 to 8. For lean muscles, aim for 12-15. Here is one of my shirts I made for a fit club. Fighting obesity and stopping Type 2 diabetes with some P90X and Shakeology.
This has always been a struggle for me as I have always had smaller arms. As a kid I was more focused in playing soccer and weights were never anything I cared about. And I guess it wasn't just as a kid considering I played for 24 years until I had a severe ankle injury. And being a diabetic and the issue of diabetics having problems with their feet I stopped playing. Timing really stunk too, I was about to be on a semi-pro indoor team. That was the end of my fitness journey until last April when I got P90X. Let's see...that was 10 years of no sports or really anything active. So back to the point, I never had a whole lot of strength in my arms. Well guess what kids? Still not, but it is getting better. I can tell a major difference with the amounts of weight I am using now compared to last April - May - June. Next time for this workout I will be increasing some of the weights again! YES!

The exercises consists of Alternating Shoulder Press, In & Out Bicep Curl & 2 Arm Triceps kickback then do it again. Rest. Deep Swimmer's Press, Full Supination Concentration Curls (you should hear Tony say that one. LOL) Chair Dips. I'm Getting better with the dips, but my right shoulder is still giving me a little problem. The next set is Upright Row, Static Arm Curls, Flip Grip Twist Triceps Kickback. repeat. Seated 2-Angle Shoulder Fly, Crouching Cohen Curl & Lying Down Triceps Extension. repeat. BONUS ROUND! In & Out Straight Arm Shoulder Fly, Congdon Curl & Side Tri Rise. If you do this workout right, your arms will feel like Jello. Recovery Formula!!

This is a fun workout. I am really starting to like it alot. Actually I am Really loving this round of P90X especially eating better than the First time around. I am seeing major differences in the workouts. Maybe next time around I can try and shoot some video. One last thing guys & girls. Don't worry if you have big arms, small arms, lift alot or not! P90X Plyocide


 Today I swapped out P90X Plyo X with Plyocide. I LOVE THIS WORK OUT! I can not wait until they come out with P90X:MC2. The upside is new exercises. Your legs will burn, you will get tired and YOU WILL SWEAT! I did not turn on the heater in the garage tonight, so I am guessing that it was somewhere in the range of 55 to 60 degrees. Sweat was dripping and my green shirt ended up a very dark green shirt. I knew I should have taken pictures tonight. Next Time I promise. Since Tony takes some breathers in between I should be able to set up in between exercises. AND.....what is the real reason he had a black eye? Was it the Lab, the Rhino, The 7' tall basketball player, peg, girlfriend or his own knee? The downside to this DVD is (especially for those who want to jump from one exercise to the next) is his breaks in between. I don't care I love the guy! He has helped me change my life for the better. If you are into sports, you will probably like these. Reminded me of Soccer, Football & Basketball drills with some other moves in between. Make sure you have some water and don't forget that Recovery drink. If you do your best, you will need it! Things you may want to do this is jump rope, basketball or soccer ball, sturdy stool, light dumb bells and a medium size empty box. maybe a medicine ball which I will need to get. Just used my soccer ball for now. Anyway, Plyocide is awesome! My favorite next to Kenpo X. Might even be better. I will have to see what his Kenpo 1 on 1 might be. HMmmmmm.
